Sages & Dreamers: The Lives of the Rabbis of the Talmud
Rabbi Arthur Weiner
Wednesdays at 8:15 PM
Who were the spiritual geniuses who shaped Judaism in its formative stages? In this course, we’ll analyze the lives of some of the most important figures in Jewish history: the sages of the first and second centuries of the common era who inherited Biblical religion and, in the wake of tragedy, transformed it to speak to a new generation. Using sources found in the Talmud and Midrash, we’ll explore the legacies these early leaders, and their lasting influence on Judaism.
