Something
for Almost Every Age
|
|
The
Jewish Community Center of Paramus proudly sponsors three active
youth groups and a thriving basketball program, with teams of different
ages competing around Bergen County. Our youth groups offer something
for almost every age; USY for grades 9 – 12; Kadima for grades
6 – 8 and Chaverim for grades 3 – 5. |
| |
| USY |
The
program for high school students offers the opportunity to meet
Jewish friends on a local, regional, national and international
basis.
Each year the youth members vote for their peers to fill
positions on their Board of Directors. With the assistance of their
Youth Advisor, the Board identifies, plans and manages all activies
offered. As a result, the teens learn invaluable leadership skills,
while also participating in activities that foster Jewish values.
The events offered create opportunities for informal education,
social interaction, religious practice, community service, but most
of all a fun and safe environment to meet and make friends. Some
of the activities include dances, kinnusim, leadership conferences
and national and international conventions, where USY groups from
around the country and the world get together in a structured setting.
USY also offers members the opportunity to participate in summer
and year long programs in the U.S., Israel and Europe.

USY website. |

| Kadima |
The
program for pre-teens, is also a national and international organization.
Kadima offers the opportunity for its members to get together with
other Jewish youth in an informal setting for fun, food and activities.
There are also opportunities to attend regional dances and Shabbatons.
|
| |
| Chaverim |
The
program for children in grades 3 –5, is the earliest introduction
to our youth programs. There are bimonthly programs that usually
include dinner, fun time in our gym and a specially planned activity. |
| |
| Basketball
Teams |
|
The JCCP sponsors
organized traveling basketball teams for grades 6 – 12. Planned
by a parent committee and coached by parent volunteers, the program
has proven to be a dynamic part of life at the JCCP. We participate
in the youth league managed by USCJ Hagalil Kadima/USY. This program
offers another opportunity for teens to connect on a local and regional
level.
